Limited characters for signature?

I was attempting to write a hypothetical backstory for myself as my signature, but I was limited to 255 characters. Can this be changed? I need 885 characters.

I can probably change it....just haven' done it in YEARS, lol.

The default settings are mainly in place so spammers are more limited if an account gets activated etc.
